Hair Bonds project is my first experience working collaboratively with participants who are not artists. The Hair Bonds projects takes a form of a series of interactive performances, or ob-‘sessions’, during which the hair of women and girls is braided together. According to Slavic beliefs, hair acts as the storehouse of cosmic energy and memories. I am particularly interested in the link between connection and addiction, about which I learned after working with a group of women and teenage girls at a rehabilitation facility in Dallas. Hair Bonds was performed and exhibited at Hannah Maclure Centre, Dundee Scotland as part of the MotherLoad Exhibition.
